Coming into college, I had a set educational path I planned to pursue — medicine.
However, I quickly realized a life of lab coats and antiseptic wasn’t for me. I set that dream aside and began to search for another.
It took me a bit, but eventually I found journalism, and suddenly, everything clicked into place. I later wondered how I ever considered doing anything else.
My choice stemmed from a love of writing, especially on significant topics where I can explain complicated issues in clear and simple language.
I have gained a variety of skills through educational coursework and outside writing opportunities. I have familiarity with reporting, interviewing, journalistic writing and more.
My passion for this career path has only grown as I’ve delved deeper into the field.
Journalism will kill you, but it will keep you alive while you’re at it.
